Dear Friend, What I love about Malashock Dance is that here dance belongs to everyone. From working in low-income schools, to our school at Dance Place, and Company performances – there are opportunities for belonging and connection. I have witnessed growth throughout the organization during my first 6 months as an employee. I am proud to share a progress report with you. Please read on to learn about our impact. I am Malashock Dance's newest administrative employee, but I’m not new to the organization. I’ve been a student, a volunteer, and I’ve performed in Malashock Dance productions. I moved to San Diego from Whidbey Island when I was just 19. After becoming a single parent, I fell in love with dance through one of our local community colleges. The San Diego Dance community is my SoCal family; its people nourish and encourage me, and it has filled my soul in times of tragedy. For the past 17 years, I have worked in both resource and youth development as well as arts management. My role at Malashock Dance is to secure financial resources so that we continue to fulfill our (new!) mission and vision. I am here to thank YOU for being a part of Malashock Dance. Please join me at our upcoming open rehearsal, in the studio to drop in on a class, or at the Company concert in April. Warmly, Sara K. Blodgett, Development Associate |
