Dear Friend,

This past June, I had the pleasure of meeting many of you in person at Malashock Dance's Youth Showcase Light Up and the professional Company's performances of Tandem Intuition. Your various connections with Malashock Dance—as audience members, dancers, choreographers, teachers, students, guardians and loved ones of students—are all incredibly meaningful. As summer brings time for rest and travel, I hope that we can stay connected. Malashock Dance's adult classes are ongoing, and Summer Youth Classes are just beginning, both great ways to stay in touch with us. The staff is hard at work preparing for next fall, stay tuned for more information in the weeks and months ahead.

Yours in Dance,

Christopher K. Morgan
Artistic Director

Looking back at TANDEM INTUITION

Malashock Dance’s Tandem Intuition brought our professional company and audiences together under the vision of new Artistic Director, Christopher K. Morgan.

Whether you were at the performances with us or not, this highlight video and the Production Snapshot linked at the button below, will illuminate all of the ways Tandem Intuition connected with our community and supported professional dance in San Diego.

San Diego Choreographers - stay tuned for SEED applications!

Formerly known as EveryDay Dances, SEED invests in the San Diego creative economy by commissioning new short form works from local choreographers to be staged on Malashock Dance’s professional company of dancers and presented in a mixed bill performance in the Malashock Black Box Studio Theater. We have just a few more tweaks to make to our timeline and application process before we make an announcement later this month!

July (re)Connect Class-

Wednesdays in July, join former Malashock Dance Company Dancer Rachel Torres in the studio.

Rachel's class will begin with a structured full body center warm-up before transitioning into more expansive movement and phrase work across the floor where dancers are encouraged to take up space and find the full expansiveness of their bodies. Class will end with musicality based choreography where there is room to be both precise and to make your own artistic choices in a friendly, non-judgmental environment. Rachel's goal is to allow for a space that fosters creativity, love and community, and allows each dancer to get what they need each week.

Youth Classes - Summer Session

Youth Classes are back in the studio for the summer! Summer classes are a great time to try a new style, keep up with technique, or pour all of that summer energy into something creative.

Weekly classes run for 7 weeks July 8 - August 24.

NEW: Drop in Rates are available for students who can't attend all classes!
