| Dear Friend, In a time when the arts funding landscape feels especially uncertain and precarious, the work we do together becomes all the more vital. Every program we launch this season is not only an offering of artistry, but also an act of hope and commitment to sustaining the voices of dancers and choreographers in San Diego. As you read our newsletter below you'll see the vast number of offerings we have that support creativity and self expression for so many different communities.     We recognize the seriousness of asking for your support during a time when so many are feeling the weight of limited resources. Yet it is precisely in moments like these that your engagement—whether by attending a performance, applying for a residency, participating in a workshop, or sharing our work—becomes a lifeline for artists. We invite you to join us this season: to witness new work, to carve out space for creativity, and to invest in the future of dance in our city. Together, we can continue to nurture the seeds of possibility and ensure that our artistic community thrives. With gratitude and anticipation, Christopher K. Morgan, Artistic Director |

  | Don't Let the Curtain Fall We are 55% of the way to our goal and all donations up to $20,000 will be MATCHED thanks to a generous patron of the arts. Together we can save our Spring show! This year, with severe cuts to federal, state, and local arts funding, our Spring Concert — the centerpiece of our season — is at risk. For nearly four decades, Malashock Dance has brought powerful, original performances to San Diego audiences…please don’t let the curtain fall. Our ambitious goal is to raise $35,000 by September 30, 2025.          We urgently need your support to raise the funds to fill our financial gap: $20,000 Pay our professional dancers for rehearsal and performance $10,000 Studio and Theater rental costs $5,000 Hire our production and technical crews (GIFTS OF ALL SIZES, MONTHLY GIVING, AND IN-KIND SUPPORT ARE APPRECIATED!) | | | Germinate: Space Grants Available Germinate invests in the San Diego creative economy by offering space grants to local choreographers.  Germinate provides rehearsal space and a supportive environment for artists to deeply engage with their work and creative process. Germinate Space Grant Awardees will be given up to 40  hours of rehearsal time in the Malashock Dance Studios  within a two week grant period and receive a $500 honoraria. While there is no pressure for a product to be created during the residency, Space Grant Awardees will be offered the opportunity to have a one hour informal (no tech) studio showing open to the public. Should an Awardee choose to have an informal showing, Malashock Dance will provide front of house and marketing support for this event. Space Grant Awardees will receive a Professional Development consultation session with Malashock Dance leadership and be able to attend the Greenhouse Professional Development series for free. |
