Observe rehearsal with choreographer Christopher K. Morgan and the Malashock Dance Company Dancers. Stay for conversations, coffee, and cookies to provide input and learn more about the creative process.
“You Are Here/Usted Está Aquí” incorporates oral history interviews into the soundtracks of a suite of solo dance performances. These heartfelt and poignant dances artfully illustrate our neighbors’ stories in meaningful ways. ENVZN24 is the first site for this project, which will continue to develop throughout the fall during a residency at the San Diego Airport and at other locations.

Christopher K. Morgan, Artistic Director is a choreographer, performer, educator, facilitator, curator, and arts administrator whose Native Hawaiian ancestry and wide-ranging international performance career influence all aspects of his work. His vision for Malashock Dance balances the growth of the performing company with access to dance education for all, a commitment to supporting new work by San Diego choreographers and the legacy of Founding Artistic Director, as well as his own work. His choreography synthesizes dance, storytelling, original music, and multimedia design to explore identity, social, and cultural issues.
ENVZN24 Urban Art Takeover is a one-of-a-kind visual & performing arts festival that will transform urban areas of the Commercial Street corridor in Logan Heights with multi-sensory art interventions by creatives from both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. Immerse yourself in live dance performances, captivating theatre and music acts, large-scale puppetry, and a stunning fashion show.
The mission of Malashock Dance is to illuminate the power of dance as an invaluable part of the human experience. It is a gathering place for artists to create new work, connect with audiences, and offer unique educational opportunities.
