Dear Friend,

As we prepare for the change of seasons, and our clocks shift to welcome more light with each day, it's a good time to take notice of all the growth in our Artistic Community at Malashock Dance. With our Junior Company performing in a number of places around San Diego, our on site youth and adult classes thriving, the deepening of SD Neurodance, and the Company preparing to share the work of six brilliant choreographers in upcoming performances of Seedwe can see the fruit of our work nourishing those around us. That work is blossoming in communities we reach outside of San Diego, as you can see from the recap video of Wehiwehi, an initiative I founded and directed in Hawai'i this past February.

This growth is only possible with you. I hope to see you in the studio for class, in the audience for Seed, and at any of the other many events we are hosting. As we all navigate change, gathering to move and breathe together is the best way to maintain continuity and community.

Yours in dance,

Christopher K. Morgan, Artistic Director

March 27th, 2025 – Fresh Congress presents Rose Colored Griefs at City Heights Performance Annex from March 27th through March 30th. The  show is choreographed and directed by Rachel Catalano (Malashock Junior Company Manager), incorporating dance with pre-recorded dialogue and music in a uniquely moving 55 minute performance.

Rose Colored Griefs is the culmination of many conversations around grief and its magical powers. Grief can be elusive, hiding in plain sight, just out of reach; at other times it just comes barging in unannounced, demanding to be heard. Grief comes with loss, but sometimes we are unaware of the attachment we had to the thing we are losing, until grief comes and shows us. It’s also painful - which is why I think there is some resistance to it and, for some, a lifelong avoidance of it. The hope of this experience is to free some of us up to feel, and find, and nurture some of the grief that we haven’t wanted to look at yet in our lives.
