Dear Friends,

Well, any residual beginning-of-the-new-year sleepiness is definitely long gone! Despite the ongoing and ever-changing pandemic situation, there is a LOT going on here at Malashock Dance. Next month, we will build a bridge to Kansas, by restaging THE BRIDGE (which I co-choreographed with Tristian Griffin last spring) at the Lawrence Arts Center, using dancers from Tristian's Kansas City-based dance company. In April, we are thrilled to be participating in La Jolla Playhouse's WOW Festival, presenting JUST A PHASE, which is a series of short dances telling a story of the life stages and experiences we all go through. In May, we feature a lot of wonderful guest artists as we present HORIZONS as part of this year's Dance is in the Air Festival at Liberty Station. We are commissioning two guest choreographers, in line with our new Malashock Evolution initiative, and host Island Moving Company (from Newport RI), performing the work I choreographed for them last summer. We are definitely NOT letting moss grow on the floor of the Malashock Dance studio.

By the way, if any of you missed seeing THE BRIDGE or our EVERYDAY DANCES show at Mingei International Museum in November, they are both available to watch on our website HERE.

Come be a part of our Spring Season!

Gratefully Yours,

John Malashock, Artistic Director

Dear Friend,

Malashock Dance wishes you and yours a happy Valentine's Day, as we celebrate new opportunities to share our love of dance! We are pleased to welcome two new members to our Board of Directors this month: Colleen Ryan and John Alexander. They bring wonderful skills and passion to our organization, and we look forward to strengthening our engagement with the community and increasing our programmatic impact as our team expands. If you feel inspired to get involved, please consider joining our Board or Advisory Council. If you already love our dance classes, this month you can share the love by bringing a friend to class for free! I am so grateful for our inspiring and dedicated team of teachers, staff, dancers, Board, students, audiences, and supporters who make our world a better place by filling it with dance.
