CULTIVATE (November 2-3, 2024 @ The Saville Theater) Cultivate will highlight the artistic breadth of our community. It will include works by Artistic Director Christopher K. Morgan, Founding Director John Malashock and three commissioned artists. This year’s CULTIVATE will feature the stage premiere of You Are Here/Usted Está Aquí, a multi-iteration dance project that integrates a wide range of oral histories from San Diego residents and visitors to bring diverse personal narratives to life. |
SEED (Formerly Everyday Dances - April 2-6, 2025 @ Malashock Dance Studio Theater) SEED invests in the San Diego creative economy by commissioning SIX local choreographers to create work to be performed by Malashock Dance’s professional company of dancers. Audiences will enjoy a mixed bill performance in an intimate setting. |
| |
REGENERATE (Late Spring 2025) This exciting multi-year initiative will find innovative approaches to honor the work of Founding Director John Malashock. By commissioning former dancers, composers, scenic designers, and John himself, we will reimagine his work for new audiences. This year’s REGENERATE will include Christopher K. Morgan’s reimagining of John Malashock’s Where the Arrow Landed (1991). |

GREENHOUSE Future leaders in the arts will have access to convenings that fill gaps of knowledge in creative practice and arts administration. This ongoing series of mini workshops, seminars, and peer working groups incubate ideas in a wide range of dance genres, choreographic research, arts administration, and arts education practices. This creates a more equitable space for learning practical skills. |
FERTILE FEEDBACK Choreographers at any stage in their career can engage in thoughtfully facilitated feedback sessions at varying stages of their creative process to deepen their work. This strengthens artistic process and builds community. |
GERMINATE San Diego based choreographers will receive space grants (access to studio space) to develop new ideas without the pressure of a produced performance. This gives artists the freedom to hone their craft in a supportive environment. |

| Dance belongs to everyone. During San Diego Gives, we’re raising funds to make dance accessible to everyone. With your help, we can remove barriers that prevent people in our community from experiencing the power of dance. Your donation will give Malashock Dance the ability to waive fees for low-income students, bring free field trips and classes to local K-12 schools; offer complimentary tickets to our company performances; and provide professional development training for the next generation of leaders. Help nurture dance as a tool for life-long learning for local San Diegans. |
